Mäkelä was a highly versatile designer, knowledgeable in ancient mythology and symbolism, yet always mindful of the contemporary. Kaisaleena Mäkelä was an uncompromising and ethically strong artist who stated that in her life, work, and being, she sought freedom and what is true. She hoped to bring joy and a sense of belonging to people through her jewellery.
