Description
Jewellery made by twisting two or more thick silver wires is known in many cultures. Such jewellery was already used in prehistoric times, but this jewellery model was particularly popular during the Middle Ages. Twisted jewellery was also used in the Baltic Sea region. In Scandinavia, gold was often used as the material for making jewellery. The inspiration for this jewellery series comes from the Crusader period, 1050-1150 AD, from Lampola, Halikko. Similar jewellery finds have been made in Finland from Southwest Finland all the way to Salla.
