Kalevala Koru bracelets have a long tradition. Bracelets have been popular in Finland since the first centuries CE. Initially, the bracelets were heavily influenced by the East Baltic, but the forms were easily adopted into Finnish culture and became national.
The decoration of the bracelets varied according to the era, from simply elegant to intricately patterned. The ornamental motifs were usually geometric and were most often made by casting or stamping, sometimes also by engraving. Women in ancient times were often not satisfied with just one piece of jewelry; they might have two identical rings on each arm.
