Plant motifs have symbolized the power and cycle of life. The surface of this jewelry is covered with palmette plant motifs, which resemble fan-like open palm leaves. This ornamental form was already known in Egypt, from where it traveled through antiquity to Europe. The inspiration for this jewelry is a buckle found in Tuukkala, Mikkeli, dating from 1150-1250.
