Description
Jewelry made by twisting two or more thick silver wires is known in many cultures. Such jewelry was already used in prehistoric times, but this jewelry design was particularly popular in the Middle Ages. Twisted jewelry was also used in the Baltic Sea region. In Scandinavia, gold was often used as the material for making jewelry. The inspiration for this jewelry series comes from the Crusader era, 1050-1150 AD, from Lampola in Halikko. Similar jewelry finds have been made in Finland, from Southwest Finland all the way to Salla.
