On a frosty night, it swayed down from the sky with thousands of its companions. In the blue-grey twilight of dawn, it crunched amusingly under the walker's step, softening in the afternoon to become part of a snowball whizzing through the air. As spring approached, it gurgled in the brook. A snowflake. A jewel shaped by nature, like the ice flowers drawn by the frost on the porch windowpane. The Lumihiutale (Snowflake) designed by goldsmith Terhi Koivisto embodies the delicacy of the first snow and its crystal-shimmering play of light on the snowdrift.
