Description
Kalevala Koru brings the magnificent jewelry treasures of the Viking Age (800-1050 AD) within reach of people today. Vikings visiting the Finnish coast on their eastern trade routes exchanged furs for weapons and jewelry, among other things. Inspired by these jewels from different parts of the world, Finnish jewelers created new pieces that surprisingly took on a distinctively original, Finnish form. The jewelry created back then has, in turn, inspired later jewelers to design pieces that are clearly Viking Age in spirit. Germund Paaer, the creator of Kuutar, designed many beautiful Viking-themed pieces. Kuutar is the most popular of his designs of all time and has been manufactured since the mid-1940s.
