Kalevala Koru bangles have a long tradition. Bangles have been popular in Finland since the first centuries AD. Initially, bracelets were heavily influenced by the East Baltic, but the forms easily became domesticated in Finnish soil and became national. The decoration of the bangles varied according to the era, from simply elegant to completely patterned. The ornamental motifs were usually geometric and were most often executed by casting or stamping, sometimes also by engraving. Women of old often did not settle for just one piece of jewelry; they might have two identical rings on each arm.
