Description
Kalevankarhu was the strongest of the figures. It was told how the bear was the son of Hongatar herself, whom the mistress of the wilds had given birth to "high in the heavens, on the shoulder of Otava". Great respect and fear were felt towards the bear, for it was half human, half a creature of the forest. And that is why whoever bore the mark of the bear ruled both man and nature.
