Description

The magnificent necklace is adorned with two long-necked birds, presumably peacocks. Peacocks were considered inhabitants of paradise, symbols of heavenly splendor and immortality. Below the birds is a footed chalice of the water of life. The arched frame of the jewelry is believed to symbolize a church vault. The jewelry features a paradisiacal symbol from early Christian art, where paradise was the Kingdom of Heaven. The jewelry is modeled after a necklace found in Kernaala, Janakkala, dating back to the 8th-9th century. Unlike in the picture, the one for sale does not have an extension piece.

Note! The necklace does not include an extension piece (which is visible in the picture). The extension piece can be purchased separately at 6039000
