Description
The opera The Tales of Hoffmann, composed by Jacques Offenbach, is set in the Romantic era of the early 19th century. Jewellery designer Kirsti Doukas drew inspiration from the opera's characters to design a signature jewellery collection for the opera festival. The glass reliefs embedded in the silver of the jewellery collection interpret the characters of the three women Hoffmann loved.
The story features Olympia, who turns out to be a mechanical doll, her jewellery adorned with a simple, pure, closed bud in clear glass relief. Young and innocent Antonia is depicted by a delicate rose-coloured pendant with an opening flower bud. In Giulietta's jewellery, the Venetian seductress, sensual femininity is expressed through a deep red colour and a blooming flower motif.
