Description
Note! (2nd quality) engraving on the pendant
Kalevankarhu (the Kaleva Bear) was the strongest of the figures. It was said that the bear was the son of Hongatar herself, born by the mistress of the wilds "up in heaven, on the shoulder of Otava" (Ursa Major). The bear was greatly respected and feared, for it was half-human, half-forest dweller. And therefore, whoever wore the bear's symbol also ruled both man and nature.
