Description
The design of this locket originates from the Torne River Valley, dating back to the 19th century. The jewelry tradition of Lapland is quite rich and distinctive: the jewelry clearly differs from designs found elsewhere in Finland. The delicate decorative motif of this piece is typical of jewelry from the region of the border river between Finland and Sweden. Silver, in turn, was the most common material for Lappish jewelry.
Note! Second-quality jewelry has more signs of wear on the inner and outer surfaces of the locket.
