Description
The Viking Age (800-1050s) has provided the inspiration for many Kalevala Koru creations. Vikings, on their trading journeys to the East, stopped by the Finnish coast and exchanged furs for weapons and jewellery, among other things. The motif for this piece of jewellery comes from Astala, Kokemäki. The original is a ring from which elongated "evil whips" hang. It was likely a magical Viking Age object used to ward off evil spirits.
