The cross is an ancient symbol representing the four cardinal directions, and thus the entire world. As a Christian symbol, the cross represents eternal life. Inscribed on this medieval crucifix are the Latin words EXE HOMO AGNUS DEI. The words mean "Behold the Man, the Lamb of God". The original piece for this jewelry was found in Räisälä.
