Description
The twinflower, Linnaea borealis, is a delicate bloom of the lush spruce forest. This fragile plant trails along soft moss, sending up flower stalks one after another. The modest twinflower is the shy beauty of the Finnish forest. Eino Leino's (1878 - 1926) beloved poem Nocturne breathes the timeless message of a Finnish summer night: The scents of twinflower and the shadows of water, from these I make the song of my heart. The verses of a young Eino Leino have also inspired jewelry designer Kirsti Doukas. Her Vanamo (Twinflower) jewelry's pink pearls glow with delicate charm.
